Oh, isn’t it great being single?

The new Birds of Prey trailer features a happily single Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) after her breakup with the Joker. We’ve known the set up for the film since the release of the first trailer, but in the newly released one, we get a little detail on Harley, post-breakup, as well as the rest of her new girl gang.

The trailer depicts shots of Harley driving a truck into Ace Chemicals, the birthplace of her alter-ego and where The Joker became The Joker and blowing it up in a blaze of glory and fireworks. Subtle, Harley.

But, as we all know, sometimes a breakup just isn’t as easy as violently destroying private property. And as Harley squirts canned cheese into her mouth while mourning the ashes of her relationship, it’s clear you can’t just always cut ties with your past.

As Harley notes, breaking up with Joker means she’s on bad terms with some folks around Gotham. We quickly find out that what brings our gang of colorful characters together is they’re all up against Roman Sionis aka Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) and Victor Zsasz (Chris Messina), who seems to almost act as a right hand for Black Mask rather than as his own villain.

According to Harley, Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco) robbed him — plucking a nice big diamond from Zsasz’s pocket, the Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) betrayed him, the Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) killed his BFF, and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) is building her case against him. So, they better stick together or get knocked out by Black Mask and his army of guys with guns.

With cocaine-fueled fights, murderously deafening canary cries, and some playful camaraderie among newly made friends, the new trailer shows a violent and wild time in kaleidoscopic technicolor, bursting at the seams with fun.

Birds of Prey premieres February 7, 2020.

Can’t wait to meet Bruce, the hyena, not the billionaire (though maybe we’ll catch a glimpse of him too?)
