The folks behind Syfy’s Wynonna Earp sure know how to party! They held one of the best Comic-Con fan parties we’ve ever attended at SDCC this year and we were fortunate enough to check it out. The venue was great, the food was delicious, the booze was free, and the cast was amazing. Plus they gave everyone who walked in brightly colored, flashing bracelets with Wynonna Earp branding — and you can never go wrong with flashy swag!

The party was hosted at F6ix, a nightclub in downtown San Diego not too far from the convention center. It was a small venue which helped set the tone of the event. It was meant to be a celebration of the Wynonna Earp fandom with fans getting the one-on-one recognition the cast and showrunners so often say they deserve. The passionate Earpers are credited by the cast as the reason the show continues to get renewed by Syfy. This party was for them.

And IDW did their best to fill the venue with dedicated Wynonna Earp fans!

Tickets were awarded through contests and giveaways with many being held on Twitter, where Wynonna Earp fans are known for their passionate livetweeting. David Ozer, the president of IDW Entertainment, gave away tickets to the party during Friday night livetweets in the weeks leading up SDCC, which opened the party up to a larger number of fans.

Personally, I thought it was a great way to do things because it really rewarded the fans on Twitter who have done so much to support the show. Tickets were also made available in a handful of other ways – one of which was supporting the effort to produce a Wynonna Earp: Season 1 blu-ray set over on Indiegogo.

And the party really was great!

There was a real sense of fandom and community pretty much everywhere you turned. Fans were decked out in Wynonna Earp gear and I saw a ton of awesome #WayHaught items that I must have. The cast and showrunners took the time to thank the fans for everything they had done for the show — and by that point they hadn’t even announced that the show had been renewed for a third season!

Pretty much the entire cast, as well as Emily Andras and comic creator Beau Smith, were on hand and they spent a lot of their time just hanging out with the fans. Because of the limited number of tickets and the smaller venue, pretty much anyone who wanted to get a little face time with the stars had a chance to meet and talk with them.

I always love how passionate the cast and showrunners are about the show and how often they say they love their fans. And that was definitely obvious that night seeing them interacting so excitedly with so many Earpers. We definitely had a great time seeing so many Earpers in one place and getting to spend time with the cast. It was certainly a night that every Earper who got to attend will remember!

Thanks for the great time, Wynonna Earp and IDW Entertainment!
