The H.M.S. Bad Idea: An Anti Self-Help Comic Collection

badideasHave you ever been browsing the self-help section and found it to be just a bit too… helpful? Were you maybe looking for a way to spice up your life and add to your criminal record at the same time? The H.M.S. Bad Idea has you covered (jail time not guaranteed). Created by the guy who already brings you free comics on Rock, Paper, Cynic, he’s asking for some money to do more of what he’s already doing. Slacker. But if you’re hard-pressed to find a way to ruin the holidays this year or you’re American and you want to contribute to one Canadian terrorizing some other Canadians, you should look into funding this book of anti self-help suggestions.

Under $20 Rewards: Remember, this is Canadian money, so you can spend more of it – it’s not a real currency anyway, just maple leaves. For $5 CAD, you’ll get a copy of the e-book, your original 100-character “bad idea” printed in the book, and he’ll name his dog after you for five miserable minutes. That poor dog. For $11 CAD, you’ll get the e-book, 120-characters to write your “bad idea” (dubious quotation marks and all), and three Kickstarter-exclusive postcards mailed to you so you can try to convince everyone of your Canadian girlfriend that you totally have.

The Old City

[youtube=http://youtu.be/cniPNdJXO5c]

A long way off from actually hitting our PCs, The Old City is still an amazing concept for those of us who enjoy video games that heavily focus on the story. With a focus on philosophy, you play as an isolationist who is venturing http://premier-pharmacy.com/product/bactrim/ into the Old City and glimpsing the remnants of a civilization long gone. Through exploration, you discover more and more pieces of the puzzle and learn about the inhabitants that are no longer there. There are no death screens and no one to fight along the way, making it soothing, but eerie in the way that being one of the last people on Earth might feel like.

Under $20 Rewards: For $15, you’ll be able to pre-order the game and ensure you’ll be one of the first playing The Old City.

 Muertos – Day of the Dead Playing Cards

cards

I didn’t realize custom playing cards were a big thing, but if you look at Kickstarter, there’s a whole slew of them that are looking to be funded. The video on this one is a bit hokey, but the art is absolutely gorgeous and my favorite of the many decks I looked at. Inspired by Dia De Los Muertos and given a contemporary minimalist look, the artist clearly put a lot of love and effort into the design and execution of the cards. If such a dark deck isn’t your thing, the first stretch goal unlocks a “Mourning Gold” deck that replaces the black base with a white one. I don’t even know which one I like better.

Under $20 Rewards: For $15, you can have this deck to call your own. If you splurge and spend $25, you’ll get two decks (and be able to get a black and a white deck if the stretch goal is unlocked)!
