We’ve known that one of the biggest reasons Kiera wants to return back to her time is to be with her son and Second Opinion is the episode in which we really delve into just how much she misses her son. On her son Sam’s birthday date, she’s on edge even more than she was before.

Added on top of that, Dillon is kicked out as the chief of police and replaced with Nora Masters, a puppet of Escher’s. Kiera has been brought under investigation by Masters and Gardiner joins in on the interview that she has with Nora.

Damn it, Gaeta, just let Kiera do her work. You go back to ruining plans on the Galactica.

During the conversation, she looses the toy figurine that she’s been carrying around from her son and Gardiner picks it up only to face the wrath from Kiera. After injuring a member of the law, her CMR suit shuts down and initiates a psychological program named Fairweather (played by Alessandro Juliani, another Battlestar veteran aka Gaeta) that helps her and is there to analyze if she is ready to go back into duty. If she does not reason with the program that she is fine, it will delete all of the memories of hers that cause problems for her functionality. As in all of her memories.

At one point they assume that Betty is a part of Liber8 after finding some files on her computer about Liber8 and attending the meetings which makes her seem like the perfect mole. After finding these files Masters takes Betty into holding. Kiera tries to reason with Fairweather as he beings to realize that they are no longer in the right year. He helps her go through her anguish and guilt of leaving Sam. After being able to come to some sort of closure with leaving her son, Fairweather restores her suit and Kiera is able to go into Betty’s computer and clear out any files about her that Betty found in her research.

They manage to blame the files and suspicious information on Liber8, and Betty is set free. Masters tries to get some information from Kiera, but fails. However, after Betty is set free she’s seen getting into a car with Trevor and it seems that she is working with Liber8 after all.

I always thought SADTECH was a foolish name for a company, it just sounds so pathetic.

Kellog creates a brand new lab for Alec and the two agree to work together, however Alec is obviously cautious. He also is approached by Jacob, who gives him time travelling information and schematics. After some convincing the two men start to work on another device that can get Jacob home.

Second Truths is one of the most poignant episodes of the season. Not only is it a case that links Kiera’s time and Carlos’s time, but it’s also the case that leads to the big reveal from Kiera.

Throughout the show, it’s obvious that Carlos believes in Kiera’s instincts, most of the time no matter how insane her thoughts are he’s willing to go along with her, but this case is just a little too far fetched. Despite her memory of the case from her time, no one in the department believes her, not even Carlos.

I love it when Kiera one-up's the coroner, but this time it just makes Carlos suspicious.

Despite knowing most of the facts of the cases, she’s not sure who the killer is and finding it along side Carlos with her knowledge makes him suspicious and doubtful of her. Kiera meets with Dillon who leads her to Esher, for the first time at Piron Corp. Kiera figures out all too quickly that Esher is aware of the time shift.

The case is super confusing, ultimately it is about a psychiatrist and his patient who kill child molesters together and burn their eyes. They are placing dead molesters around the streets on the route of a bus. This killer is called the Ouroboros killer in Kiera’s time and has killed about 38 people by Kiera’s time. Unable to make Carlos simply believe her, she reveals the truth to Carlos about everything, including her time travelling. Obviously Carlos doesn’t believe her, and leaves her at the station.

Unwilling to simply let this go, Kiera goes off to capture the second killer as Carlos begins to believe Kiera. Visiting the second killer, Kiera is captured and nearly dies at the hands of the killer. Thankfully he uses her gun and it backfires on him, electrocuting him. Tied to a chair Carlos rushes to the house to save her and finds her tied up on the chair. He unties her and the two reconcile as Carlos now finally believes in her story, especially after seeing her gun retract.

I don't trust Esher, I never will.

Also Alec goes on a date with Emily and comes into some struggles as far as getting her home or dealing with Kellogg, but the two manage to make it. There is even a cute scene of Alec cooking for her. However, once she is kicked out of the lab that she meets Alec in it is revealed that she’s more than he thought she was. Kellog spends his days recruiting scientists who have been successful from the future, however he is continuously outsmarted by PIRON corporation and Esher.

I’m really excited that Carlos now knows the truth. I’m actually super excited. I’ve been waiting for this to happen so that the two can solve murders together and Kiera can use her awesome suits. Despite the horrible Sherlock Holmes quote, I still loved this episode.
