UBI2

Ubisoft really kicked it off this year with some great games. I wasn’t a huge fan of Just Dance and Shape Up, but man did they start and end on a high note.

Far Cry 4 – I don’t even play Far Cry, but man did the first five minutes of Far Cry 4 make me excited to play it. It looks absolutely gorgeous. The new villain looks so brilliant, and as per usual, Far Cry looks so dark and gritty. Set in the Himalayas now, the climate has changed drastically and it looks like we’re playing with a different beast now. I think it’s time for me to pick up Far Cry 3.

The Division – We saw some more gameplay for The Division during the Xbox conference, but shit, I was excited to get some more content for this game. We saw it premiere last year at E3 2013, so seeing more content here was absolutely great. I was glad to see a more story type trailer here given that we got the gameplay experience earlier in the day. I wanted to know more about the story and see what the single player aspect could deliver, and the trailer did a good job of showing off some of the story.

The Crew – I’m not going to lie, I’m not that great of a fan of this game. The content that I was shown didn’t really con me into wanting to play the game. I’m not a huge driving game person (if you ever saw me play a driving game you would know why) so you have to do a lot for me to want to play a driving game. It looks gorgeous and I liked the trailer, but it didn’t win me over. Not to mention it was suppose to be a launch game and now it’s almost a year late.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity – Yeah, I cried like a little baby when I saw the co-op this morning, so needless to say I am all on board for Unity. The gameplay looks GORGEOUS. I love how deep they intensified the open world, and that you can go so deep inside of Paris. The parkour looks a little more fluid, I am excited to play it first hand and see how it works. I’m not a huge multi-player person, but I could jump on board for this.

Just Dance – I didn’t even really want to mention this, but the dance on stage, was so uncomfortable and hilarious that I couldn’t not mention it. Then again, the whole playing through your smart phone plan looks like it could be a great idea and I think I could be onboard for that.

Shape Up – This looks like a really cute game to me. Granted, it’s a little gimmicky, but the chip tunes, the cutesy colors make it look very fun especially in a family setting despite it being a “fitness game for gamers.”

Valiant Hearts – The trailer for this game made this already adorable game nearly painful to watch. The art is gorgeous, but the story is painfully emotional. Great story to be told by the dog, and I love that Ubi is sticking with this historical themed game, because it is definitely working for them.

Rainbow 6 Siege – I have never played Rainbow 6, but jesus christ, this game looks great. It feels a little scripted, but the gameplay looked wonderful. I am so on board for this game it’s not even a joke. I loved the intensity of the game, especially being able to jump in and out of the rooms and getting to your hostage by any means possible. I think this form of co-op can be difficult for newer co-op gamers like myself, but hell all my friends are at the same level as me with co-op so we can learn together.

What have you been looking forward to from Ubisoft? What do you wish was talked about? I know there was some clamor for AC: Comet, but to no avail. There is only one more conference left, and that’s Sony, so stay in tuned.
