Black History Month 2020, has been an eventful one and to celebrate our accomplishments and start some significant conversation, Freeform did something new! In honor of #BHM, Freeform created a digital content series entitled “Black People Like…,” to highlight OUR varied interests, and the multifaceted, multidimensional and multilayered nature of Black Culture.

In this revolutionary roundtable series, Freeform unlocked all of the unique, fun, dynamic, and interesting things that not only we as black people like, but that every kind of person likes too. This series brought people together through sharing personal stories and open dialogues about topics not commonly associated with black culture. One of those topics was Episode 4: Black Nerd Culture.

In this inspiring, funny and educational video, the #Blerds of the world assemble to combat the racial bias that exists in the fantasy space. Facilitated by Comedian Ify Nwadiwe, Ira Madison III, Hayley Marie Norman, Moni Oyedepo, Chanelle Graham, and Willie Macc join to discuss the underrepresentation of black faces in gaming, comic books, cosplay and more! Check out the video below to see these experts continuing to create their own path and make their mark in #NerdCulture.

Check out the rest of the episodes on Freeform’s YouTube channel, covering a range of topics, from Rock Music to Camping and even Veganism! And shoutout to Freeform for providing a digital platform that focuses on what connects us as humans and the enjoyment that black people have in life!
