Once Upon A Time: A Tale of Two Sisters Recap

Synopsis of 4×01: A scared and confused Elsa finds herself in Storybrooke and, fearful of the intentions of its residents, creates a powerful snow monster for protection. With Robin Hood’s wife, Marian, back in the picture, Regina wonders if her “happily ever after” with the former thief has been completely quashed. Belle and Mr. Gold are off on the honeymoon they’ve dreamed of, while Hook and Emma sort out what exactly they are doing together. Will Elsa be able to find Anna, and control her powers? Can Emma save the town from the giant snowman? What is Regina up to? Find out more below.

We open with the Queen and King of Arendalle on a ship in a storm. As the queen quickly writes a note to Anna and Elsa, the storm overtakes them, but not before she can get the note in a bottle and send it off to the girls. That’s apparently the best way to start an episode, with dramatic deaths. Cut to “five years later” and an overly awkward and eager Anna is getting prepared for her wedding with Elsa’s help.

This episode is jammed full with Frozen movie references. I guess they really couldn’t avoid that too much, but sans Regina’s scenes, it was like having one ice pun after another lobbed at you. I digress… Anna and Elsa were quite adorable together. Kristoff was cute and it was pretty awkward to see a real life person talking to a reindeer. Marshmallow. Seriously. Elsa made him appear in Storybrooke, and let me tell you just how excited the nerd team was to see him. Even in all of his bad CGI, he was just as epic and misunderstood as one would want. He’s part of what made this episode for me.

Rumple and Belle started off on their honeymoon, but not before a quick stop at Neal/Balefire’s grave. It was heart wrenching watching Rumple talk to the headstone and vow to be better. Once he was done, it was off to a place Belle just happened to find in the woods. There they shared the iconic “Tale As Old As Time” dance. It was everything a Beauty and the Beast fan could want, and more. But how will their relationship thrive when Rumple is keeping such a big secret from Belle? And just whose house are they in? What’s with the hat? Hopefully all these questions will be answered soon, and not be the end of this couple.

Oh, Regina. She just can’t catch a break in love. At the end of last season, Emma brought Marian back, not knowing who she is, or what it’ll do to the future. So this makes two Charmings that have screwed up Regina’s chance at love. Naturally, Robin Hood is torn. He loves Regina, but made a vow to Marian to be her husband in sickness, and in health, till death do they part.

Now that she’s back, he has to do the honorable thing. Plus, Marian is in obvious distress and a man of his honor just can’t leave a helpless maiden to figure all of this out on her own. Now Regina is out for blood, again, and has turned evil, again. Also Sidney is back. Did anyone else just assume he was dead, or was that just me? It looks like she’s going back in time once more to find who wrote the book. She’s going to make them rewrite the story to give her the happy ending she deserves. All villains deserve a happy ending, right? I’m sure this won’t affect her relationship with Henry at all.

I am dependant on alcohol and sometimes I have horrible panic attacks, and I often suffer from anxiety. Lorazepam calms me down. I also feel pain in back and when I use buy ativan along with other meds for my back then they work together even stronger.

Captain Swan fans will be happy to know that the whole relationship thing is on between Emma and Hook. Or is it? Emma is doing her, “I love you, but I don’t know if I want to” thing again. She cleverly uses the guilt of destroying Regina’s chance at love to push him away for a bit. We all know that won’t last long. As far as the other characters go, Mary Margaret, David, and Henry were in two scenes and really, it seemed like everyone was pushed back for the Frozen Crew, which is understandable when bringing in a new arc, complete with back story. It just feels like shoving the main characters out, except Emma and Hook, wasn’t fair to the ones that have brought us so far.

All in all, it was a pretty good episode and I look forward to how the rest of the season will go. I’m really interested in how Regina is going to complete this new plan, and if she is going to stay evil this time. It’ll also be interesting to see if they bring Olaf in, and how many more Frozen references they can cram into Storybrooke., and if that hat is the Sorcerer’s hat from Fantasia.
