The Walking Dead universe is the gift that keeps on giving, and they are set to release several new shows soon to add to the pop culture juggernaut. The latest installment, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, sees beloved characters Rick (Andrew LincolnLove Actually) and Michonne (Danai GuriraBlack Panther) finally reunited, with more adventures involving government secrets and zombies to come.

Nerdophiles enjoyed chatting with newcomers to the franchise Lesley-Ann Brandt (“Pearl Thorne”)  about the new series and teasing what we can expect from her character! Read out our conversation here:

Brandt shared Pearl Thorne’s backstory: “Well, Thorne was stuck on this boat trying to find her love. She’s someone that this military can use because she’s a fighter. She’s been trying for years to return to her love, which is similar to Rick & Michonne’s story.”

Brandt continued: “So when Thorne decides she can’t return, there’s a profound sadness and a deep acceptance. This is where Thorne fundamentally differs from Michonne, I believe, because as this series is a testament to, Michonne never gives up!”

On Thorne’s involvement with the CRM, Brandt teased: “Coming into the Civic Republic and the Civic Republic Military (CRM), I don’t think there’s trust initially in what is being offered. However, Thorne quickly realizes and falls into this system, and perhaps that’s because of her military training where she’s trained to take orders and fit into, you know, the status quo, but you will have to watch and see how she fairs…”

Will The CRM ruin Rick and Michonne’s chances of being reunited? Will Thorne be a casualty amid all the unrest? Who are the real adversaries that everyone should watch out for? Guess we’ll have to tune in to find out!

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Premieres This Sunday, February 25th Only On AMC!
