Undoubtedly the biggest convention day of the weekend, Saturday is one of the busiest, most crowded, most fan-filled day. The offsite events are opened earlier and closing later, the parties are stacked up one on top of another, and so are the panels! Don’t get blinded by just the big name panels, they are difficult to get into and if you want to get in, you’re best off planning your entire Saturday around that panel. 

Fill up your backpacks with food and get yourself to the con hall! You’ve got stuff to see and things to wait in line for.

Skybound Entertainment: Comics and Creators
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM @ Room 29AB

Founded by Robert Kirkman and David Alpert, Skybound Entertainment is one of the biggest names in comics today and they’re coming to SDCC to tell you everything about their latest comic slate. This panel of top Skybound creators will include Sean Mackiewicz, Donny Cates, Chris Pasetto, Christian Cantamessa, and Brandon Thomas, moderated by Jo Moisan.

Riverdale Special Video Presentation and Q&A
11:00 AM – 11:45 AM @ Ballroom 20

How about that season one finale, guys? The cast of CW’s freshman show Riverdale is all here to promote their second season and maybe answer some questions about where we will be by the beginning of this fall. The panel includes a special video presentation and a Q&A. Season two premieres October 11th, and we can’t wait!

A panel that truly speaks to our very soul, we’re excited to see Jamie Broadnax of Black Girl Nerds talk with panelists Eliyannah Amirah Yisrael and Robyn Jordan about how they went from fans in the fandom community to creators and influencers in their industry.

Costume Designing for Screen

Designers from all across pop culture are coming together to not only talk about their work but also about the process they embark on when designing costumes for the screen. Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation
11:30 AM – 1:30 PM @ Hall H

Oh boy, here we go with the Hall H! Saturday is certainly jam-packed with excitement and it starts early. Warner Bros. is not holding back on their panel this year, bringing the cast of Ready Player One, which includes Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, and TJ Miller. After that, they’ve got Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford along with the rest of their casts for Blade Runner 2049! And then to cap off that two hours, they’re bringing the entire Justice League cast up on stage, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, and offering an early look at Aquaman

The Character of Music: Music for Popular TV

Music is not only a vital part of television, but it has transformed in the recent years into an essential part of telling strong character-based stories. Composers of fan favorite shows like Breaking BadStranger Things13 Reasons WhyLegionThe Walking Dead, and Preacher come together to talk about how they influence the soul of the projects they work on.

Women Rocking Hollywood: Female Directors Changing the Faces of Film and Television

I think the one thing we can all agree on is that the world needs more women directors, right? And if not, well we’ll have to just agree to disagree. Plus whose life wasn’t changed by Wonder Woman this year? Women Rocking Hollywood is a panel all about bringing the women who work in this male-dominated industry to talk about their projects and the topic of inclusion.

Entertainment Weekly’s Women Who Kick Ass: Icon Edition with Charlize Theron

Charlize Theron is the uncontested queen of bad assery, able to take on shocking action sequences and heart-wrenching drama without breaking a sweat. As one of the leading actresses of several box office and critical successes, Entertainment Weekly is rightfully choosing to honor this influential actress for their first “Icon Edition” panel of the Women Who Kick Ass panel series.

Star Trek: Discovery
2:30 PM – 3:15 PM @ Ballroom 20

A new ship, a new crew, the same message: to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no one has gone before. Set to debut on CBS All Access, Star Trek: Discovery is bringing their cast and creators to talk about the show and introduce you to the next installment of Star Trek on the small screen.

IDW Entertainment and Syfy: Wynonna Earp

Wynonna Earp is actually one of our favorite shows here at Nerdophiles, we love covering the show weekly and we’re super excited to see the cast back at Comic-Con this year. Wynonna and the whole gang are coming to San Diego along with showrunner Emily Andras and comic creator Beau Smith to show you things you’ve never seen before and answer all your burning questions.

Netflix’s Stranger Things
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM @ Hall H

We don’t have to tell you how much of a hit Stranger Things was when it was released last year. The Netflix hit series isn’t stopping at season one, and has already been hyping up their second season, making the fan theories run wild with every little detail they release. Well, prepare to have you minds blown as the cast and creators bring in exclusive footage for the audience at Hall H.

DCTV’s Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, The Flash, and Arrow! 
3:30 PM – 6:30 PM @ Ballroom 20

Saturday must be the day of DC, because while Hall H holds DCEU’s Justice League cast and their cinematic universe, Ballroom 20 is all about the small screen. Kicking it off with the cast of Supergirl, then Legends of Tomorrow, followed by the new Black Lightning, then The Flash, and finally Arrow, The CW’s star line up is bringing their casts and creators for special video presentations and Q&As for each of the shows! If you’re a fan of the DCTV shows, you can’t miss this three hour extravaganza!

Comic-Con How-To: Draw with Copic Markers with Allison Sohn

We’re no strangers to Copic and how life-changing their markers are. But have you mastered them? Allison Sohn is here to take you from the start to finish with her artwork and share with you tips and tricks while she answers all of your questions.

The Magicians
4:00 PM – 4:50 PM @ Indigo Ballroom (Hilton Bayfront)

After the events of season one, I didn’t think the show could get any crazier, but season two proved me wrong. The Magicians brings back their cast, including Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta, Summer Bishil, and their executive producers to look back on the last season and take a look at where we’ll be headed in the third season.

Midnight, Texas Series Premiere
4:00 PM – 5:10 PM @ Room 6BCF

We loved getting to see Midnight, Texas at Wondercon this year, and by the way the cast is talking about the show, it sounds like a major passion project. We have been hyped for this show for a while, and with it finally coming to life this summer, jump into this panel to meet the stars and get a look at the pilot episode of this upcoming NBC series.

Westworld Panel and Q&A Session
4:15 PM – 5:15 PM @ Hall H

I think that we can agree as a group that Westworld was another hit from HBO right? The hit series is back and taking over Hall H with their huge cast. The series that marries the Western genre with science fiction will undoubtedly hit us with another shocking second season. The panel will likely feature some sort of exclusive look at the upcoming season.

 

AMC’s Visionaries: Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of Comics
4:45 PM – 5:45 PM @ Room 6DE

The Robert Kirkman love doesn’t stop at Comic-Con. Kirkman and fellow executive producers Daniel Junge and Rory Karpf are here to introduce their unscripted series that explores the transformation of the world of comic books through the people and stories and events. Broken up into six parts, documentary series will take a deep dive into the genre and definitely can’t be missed if you’re a Kirkman fan, or even just a comics lover.

 

TV Guide Magazine’s Fan Favorites
5:30 PM – 6:15 PM @ Room 6BCF

Bringing stars in from hit shows like American GodsThe MagiciansShadowhuntersiZombie, and more, TV Guide’s Damian Holbrook brings our favorite actors and characters onto stage for the annual panel that celebrates fans from all fandoms.

Marvel Studios
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM @ Hall H

If you’ve been in the hall all day, there’s no reason to leave now. Successfully secretive and built on hype and dreams, Marvel Studios is ending the night in Hall H with Kevin Feige bringing special guests to take a look at the MCU. I don’t have to tell you that even though all they’re teasing to us is “special guests” that everyone will be sticking around for this panel. Hunker down and prepare to be amazed!

X-Files: A Conversation Between David Duchovny and Dirk Maggs
6:45 PM – 7:45 PM @ Room 6A

Did you know that X-Files was coming out with an audio book with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson? Because I definitely didn’t. Promoting the Audible drama The X-Files: Cold Cases, David Duchovny and producer Dirk Maggs talk about Mulkder and Scully’s story, what’s canon and what’s not, and how fans can take part in the investigation.

Legendary’s Cursed panel with John Barrowman, Carole Barrowman, and Erika Lewis
6:30 PM – 7:30 PM @ Room 7AB

Barrowman! Or should we say, Barrowmans! Torchwood star John Barrowman will be taking over Room 7AB along with his sister, academic professor of English Carole Barrowman, plus graphic novelist and television writer Erika Lewis. They will be here to talk about their upcoming comic series from Legendary Comics!

Creating Your Own Destiny: The New Comics Career
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM @ Room 11

Taking control of your own destiny isn’t something that we do enough these days, but when you’re trying to make your mark in comics, you have to be bold or suffer definite failure. Hosted by Andy Schmidt from names like Comics Experience, Marvel, IDW, and BOOM!, he’s here to guide you as you try to tell your story.

10 Points to Slytherin: Why Good Fans Love Evil Characters

Why do we love the bad guys so much? Loki, Darth Vader, Harley Quinn, fan favorites that do so much evil but get so much love now have their own panel, hosted by writers and authors all too familiar with the genre of the our hate-to-love antagonists.
