Red Giant Films is a filmmaking software company that uses their tools to create some incredibly well made short films. In Old/New they explore consumer culture, hipster-ism, and the meaning of life. This all, of course, escalates to time travel.

Narrated by the always great Patton Oswalt, with a Dr. Suess-style rhyming scheme and clever humor, the short looks beautifully made and has some very poignant things to say. I don’t want to spoil it any more for you, but I highly recommend watching the entire thing (it’s only 7 minutes).

If you’re an editor or filmmaker, head over to redgiant.com where you can find software and tutorials to help make your next project a sci-fi masterpiece (or whatever genre you’re into). If you want to see more cool shorts, visit their Youtube page.
