Over the past weekend, Ghostbusters celebrated the official 30th anniversary of its release. We talked about it at length over at the Ratchet Retrocast with Alex and Chace of the Georgia Ghostbusters.

Of course, the celebration of such a milestone anniversary isn’t going to be relegated to one weekend. The film will be re-released in theaters in August, but y’all are nerds. You want collectible things to hold onto and put in your geek spaces. Well, I can’t get you an unlicensed nuclear accelerator to strap to your back, but I can at least point you in the direction of some awesome Ghostbusters merch to add to your collection.

Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II Blu-Ray

Let’s start with the basics. Ghostbusters already has one blu-ray release, but from what I’ve heard, it’s not a very good transfer. As for Ghostbusters II, which turns 25 this year, it’s never even had a proper blu-ray release. That all changes on September 16th, when both films receive a 4K-Mastered blu-ray release. I have no idea what that really means, but the internet tells me it’s fancy. I agree with Chace that the logo they picked for the release is really dumb, but the release includes all sorts of special features including deleted scenes. Along with the two pack for both films, there will be a giftset with a Slimer figurine available as well.

Hot Wheels Ecto-1

Along with making little toy cars, Hot Wheels also make collectible toy cars in all sorts of variations. Which includes, you guessed it, movie cars. One of their latest is the Ecto-1, which was made from a 59 Cadillac. I think I prefer the whimsy of the Funko Pop and Lego versions, but this one is pretty snazzy too.

Funko POP! Ghostbusters Collection

We here at Nerdophiles LOVE us some Funko POP! figures. I’m sure Sam has more than me, but I have three that I absolutely love because they’re all so freakin’ adorable. Lucky for us, the Ghostbusters collection keeps that tradition of adorable awesomeness. The base collection includes Venkman, Stantz, Spengler, Slimer and an oversized Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Now, I’m sure some of you are asking “What about Winston though?” Don’t worry about him: He’s driving the Ecto-1.

Ghostbusters Domo

I have no actual pictures to accompany this one since no pictures have been released yet, but it still excites me. Domo-Kun is one of my favorite promotional toys from Japan and I have a few Domo-Kun plushies in weird little guises that I love dearly. The fact there will be a Stay Puft Domo makes me SO HAPPY.

Lego Ecto-1 and Ghostbusters Minifigs

In celebration of the 30th anniversary, Lego approved the CUUSOO idea for a Ghostbusters set with the Ecto-1 and minifigs of our four main heroes. The set runs for $50, but it looks well worth it for the minifigs alone. I mean really. LOOK AT THE TINY EGON.

  1. Cannot wait to get my hands on the Lego set! Just wish they’d made a slimmer mini figure. Maybe if we wish really hard, they’ll release the fire hall before Christmas!!
