Assassin’s Creed has got to be one of my most favorite video game series in the world. So much so that I have considered getting a PS Vita for the pure reason just to play the AC: Liberation game, well that’s one of the reasons. I’m not saying it’s a perfect series, because it certainly isn’t, but it was one of the first games I ever played as well as the first one I finished (aside from Pokemon, that never counts, don’t count it.) Now, let me tell you why I’m going to cry like a little girl Assassin’s Creed 3 comes out.

1. Ubisoft
Ubisoft creates games beautifully. Ubisoft creates, in my opinion, some of the prettiest games. There’s a specific shimmery quality to their games that always makes me so happy. Not to mention the fact that they come out with games faster than Mitt Romney can spit out lies. I don’t have to wait a year or four for the second installment of a game, I don’t even have to wait a year in some cases. They also make games for literally ALL platforms, making it one of the first games I’ve ever even played on my Mac. While I know Mac gaming is kind of an oxymoron and people laugh at it, I couldn’t afford a console or a Windows computer at the time, and having that ability to play something like Assassin’s Creed on my computer was awesome.

2. Connor
Ok, real talk, Ezio was getting old, literally and figuratively. I’m not saying I didn’t love Signore di Auditore, I did. But I think I speak for the majority when I say I am ready for someone new. After Altaïr and Ezio, I’m excited to meet Connor Kenway aka Ratonhnhaké:ton, not to mention the fact that the Desmond story will get more added to it. I’m glad to see the creators of the game have created a mixed race character as the hero, instead of giving into a more stereotypical Paul-Revere-George-Washington type revolutionary. I have always loved the fact that the assassins have lived such different lives, and I can’t wait to see the inclusion of historical relevance with this new game. The game creators say that Connor will always be battling between his Native American roots and his English ones. I absolutely love the way that Ubisoft develops their characters, so I know that they will do a good job with Connor.

3. Realistic Parkouring
The game makers have said that it was always ridiculous to them that the one of only thing that a normal person could climb, was somehow something the assassins never could. So, in game three, Connor will now be able to climb trees! Now I went into the exclusive game demo of Assassin’s Creed III this year at San Diego Comic-Con and I can tell you that they have added a TON of things to climb and they are no longer restricted by 90 degree angles. In fact, you can bet I was sitting there in the front row staring at Connor leap his way through the trees and climb up cliff faces with my mouth wide open and my heart wishing I could leap forward in time and just play the game. I normally prefer linear games, but this demo made me crave for an open world interface so that I could just run around revolutionary America leaping around trees in the snow and skinning things (except I don’t think we can skin things. In fact I remember a guy in the crowd asking if Connor could scalp people and the guy said they considered it but it would be too morbid. Booo.)

4. More Weapons, Better Combat
Now, I am a one-weapon girl, or I was until I saw Connor slaughter someone with a tomahawk. Now I’m considering switching from my classy two bladed assassin’s tool to something a little more… native. Or actually, I don’t have to. Because one of the new features now includes dual wielding. You can keep your deadly hidden blade for sneak attacks or just go running through the woods with your tomahawk waving in the air or shoot someone afar and then stab someone close. The possibilites are ENDLESS! The combat system has been completely redone and I am loving it. You can be a part of major battles in the American Revolutionary War. When given a target to assassinate during battles Connor can choose a direct path of assassination or a sneakier way. In my opinion, this brings a whole new facet to the game, as far as assassinations go. Needless to say, I can’t wait for my first battlefield assassination.

5. AMURRICA
The Promise Land and the Italian Renaissance were both cool, but I am going to have to be a little over patriotic when I say that I think I’m going to like the third game’s setting the most. Come on, best friends with George Washington? That has to take the cake over Leonardo daVinci. This is GEORGE WASHINGTON we’re talking about. No, but seriously, I figured the American Revolution would be a logical next step in the process of games. I had thought maybe the Civil War, but that was probably a little too large of a time jump for Ubisoft. I guess they could have tried to do the French Revolution, but I can’t really see myself willingly beheading Marie Antoinette and shouting next to Robespierre only to see my country fall to Napoleon. At the very least, I’d rather just fly kites with Ben Franklin or maybe sell some ‘coon hats to French Canadians.

Anyways, if you haven’t gone out and pre-ordered the game, you definitely should. I was definitely sucked into the hype after that exclusive preview at Comic-Con when they threw in an inflatable tomahawk, AC3 t-shirt, and free DLC I was sold. Assassin’s Creed III comes out October 30th, 2012!
